Greetings, Marching Band parents and students,
We are watching the COVID-19 guidelines and the governor’s directives closely to see if it will be safe to proceed with our shortened version of band camp. Some bands in the area have already held camp, and we have gotten good feedback and best practices from them. It will be a last-minute call for us, so that we have the best information to make our decision. On the marching band page is the marching band camp schedule that was emailed last week, along with the pregame music for everyone to start practicing. We will work on marching band music at the beginning of the school year whether we are able to do camp or not.
Focus on learning the “Fight Song”, “Alma Mater”, and “Star Spangled Banner”. Find all of the music for your instrument in the pregame music PDF and see how many parts there are for your instrument. Use the attached part assignment sheet to find out what part you are playing. For example, if there are three trumpet parts in the PDF for “The Star Spangled Banner”, then you need to look at the three-part trumpet column on the part assignment sheet to find your correct part. Depending on each piece, there could be a different number of trumpet parts.
Music for our first show (Green Day) will be coming soon (“Basket Case”, “Welcome to Paradise”, “American Idiot/Boulevard of Broken Dreams”).
If you are a returning member interested in being a squad leader or field commander, please complete the following survey by Friday 7/24: https://forms.gle/PBKue4focoPZuzYC
If you are not interested in this, you do not need to do the survey.
If you have any questions, please email me at Darren.firstname.lastname@example.org.
Greetings to all! I hope this email finds you healthy and enjoying a little sunshine.
I appreciate your patience in getting marching band information out to you with everything going on. Usually, I have the calendar and music out to everyone before the end of the school year… I cannot wait to hear all of the students play again. It will really be something. We are going to do our best to make music in these difficult times.
As we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year, safety is our first priority. Our usual band camp schedule will be abbreviated to make sure we are following health guidelines. See the attached guidelines for health and safety. Face coverings must be worn at all times as long as you are not playing your wind instrument. It is important that we follow these guidelines carefully, as it will allow us to continue to participate together. As things change, we will be following all best practices and guidelines as they emerge.
Below is the schedule for band camp. Please mark your calendars. As we are spending less time together this year, it is important that we are all present during these times. More information on the rest of the season will be shared as available. Please contact me at email@example.com with any questions.

We are requesting volunteers to help with the laundering of dresses for the choral music department from the 2019-2020 school year. This would require washing the dresses, hanging them, and returning them to the High School in the Fall. All dresses would need to be laundered before the start of the school year. There are three different types of dresses. Specific instructions for each type can be obtained from Mrs.Gess at Devon.Gess@bayschoolsohio.org. Dresses can be picked up from Mrs. Gess, or they can be dropped off at your home. Please provide your home address when signing up. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Below is the Symphonic Band list for next year if school and class will be normal. If the classes are set up differently or there is no marching band, it could look different. I did not receive auditions from all students. The band could use more bassoon, tuba, french horn, and trombone players. Some of the woodwind players may need to switch around to find the best instrumentation for the group (i.e. bari. sax and bass clarinet, more tenor saxes). In a normal year, I would listen to any students that wanted to try out again after marching band season to hear if progress has been made. As soon as I know any information about next year, I will let you know. Student health and safety are our primary concern. If you have a question please email me at Darren.firstname.lastname@example.org. Go Rockets!
Elijah Deutschman Ruiz
Look for the Symphonic band results sometime next week. I am still waiting for everyone’s audition videos.

Every band member and Rockette who has carried supplies to and from the school for so many practices knows why it would be great to have on-site facilities. Every parent, student spectator and community member who has attended a halftime show or other event at our stadium certainly knows why we need new restrooms and concessions. And every parent of middle school and elementary age students can rest assured that the sooner we can make “Home of the Rockets” a reality the better it will be for those future BHS generations and for the entire community.
We are grateful to those who led the “Field of Dreams” campaign a decade ago to install a turf field, and this is our chance to continue that tradition and pay it forward by supporting the new Home of the Rockets! Please click https://www.homeoftherockets.org, share it with your friends and family, and donate what you can to support One Rocket Nation! With your help, we can meet our fundraising goal by April 30, 2020 and break ground immediately following the fall 2020 sports season!
