Cellos & Basses

Cellists and Bassists need to bring their home instruments to the concert.  If you need to borrow a school instrument please reach out to your director ASAP.  You will be responsible for the pick up, drop off, safe storage and return of the instrument once your director assigns a loaner instrument to you.

Concert Dress

Students have a choice between concert dress and halloween costume for this concert. Middle School Concert Dress is white button-down shirt or blouse and black pants (a long black skirt with black leggings may be substituted), with black shoes and black socks. High Schoolers wear their issued Tux or Dress.  Any halloween costumes should meet our district’s school-appropriate costume guidelines and not impede the student’s ability to play their instrument.

Student Audience Expectations

All middle school students will be signing a Rocket Audience Contract in class as learning how to be a performer and an audience member are both important performing arts skills. Concerts are our best opportunity to practice those skills.  We have included the contract below so you can review it with your child.

       Rocket Audience Contract

In class we practice how to present ourselves on stage to give the audience the most exciting and transformative musical experience possible. But the audience plays an important role in the performance as well by being open to receiving the performance by:

  • Actively LISTENING to the performers.
    • Thinking about the music I am hearing.
  • WATCHING the performers.
    • Thinking about what I am seeing.
  • CLAPPING at appropriate times to show appreciation for the performers.
    • Give a standing ovation if it is an exceptional performance.

Audience Protocol:

  • Do not enter or exit the performance except in an emergency.
  • If you MUST enter or exit, wait until the applause between pieces (except in a medical emergency)
  • If you are struggling to focus it is OKAY to have a book or e-reader to quietly read in your seat until you can engage again. DO NOT BRING OR USE PHONES OR TABLETS
