Dear Prospective Pit Orchestra Members,
As this unusual year continues, I am very excited that we are going to have an opportunity to have a pit orchestra for the musical this year! This year the musical will be Chicago: High School Edition. Chicago: High School Edition is a musical about fame, fortune, and acquittal, and the music should be a lot of fun to play. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the information and dates for the musical are not finalized; however, we will be having an informational Zoom meeting for anyone interested in participating in the musical on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 3:30 PM. At the meeting, I will distribute audition materials and go over the audition process, as well as preliminary dates. Based on the Google Form response, I will also have an audition sign-up form to complete at the meeting.
The auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, beginning at 4:30 PM and Thursday, January 7, 2021, beginning at 3:30 PM. If needed auditions will also be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 (Times to be announced). The auditions will be held at Bay High School, if permitted, or they will be done virtually if needed.

We are holding our virtual concert on the Bay High YouTube channel on Thursday 12/17. We are premiering the performance at 7pm, however the video will be up on the channel for a while. I am so proud of the maturity, musically and otherwise, of the groups this year. Most of our rehearsing for the pieces you will hear was over Zoom. Zoom has been great to keep school going, however for musical rehearsals, it presents many challenges, one of which is that we can only hear one thing at a time, rather than playing together. Despite the challenges, the students really showed the work they have put in up to this point in their music education. To be able to pull these performances together under these circumstances is impressive. Thanks to all for your support and help in making this happen.
If someone was unable to attend the recording session for any reason, I would like to include them in the concert with a video clip or picture. Just email me with the file ASAP and I will include it in the video. This could be a picture of them with their instrument, or a video of them playing an excerpt from our music. If you have another idea, I am happy to listen.
